One of my Favorite Christmas Carol written in 1862 by William Dix, sung to the English melody “Greensleeves. Some versions use the latter half of the first verse as a chorus.

This this is christ the king whom shepherds watch and angels sing Haste haste to him laud . the Babe the son of Mary. The second verse which is rarely sung today, looks beyond the manger to the cross.

Why lies He in such a mean estate, Where ox and ass are feeding? Good Christian, fear for sinners here, the silent word is pleading. Nails , spear shall pierce him through, the cross he borne for me, for you Hail Hail the word made flesh, the babe, the son of Mary.

Couple of months back we celebrated the birth of Christ (christmas) which signifies God stepped down to this earth as man for us. when we look at good Friday — The cross of christ brought the man to God.

For us, Christmas and Easter go together because the reason God came to this world is to save us from eternal death and to give us eternal life. The one and only reason He came to this world and died on that cross is because He loves us.

He made the first move, He chose to save us and then we choose to respond. ( John 3: 16 which we all know by heart: For God so loved the world that He gave only begotten son whomsoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life )

God’s love is unconditional, unending and nothing can separate us from the love of God neither heights nor depths nor principalities nor things present nor things to come.

The basis of the Christian life is love. 1 John 4: 19 we love each other because He loved us first.

Even 1corinthians chapter 13 talks about love. If we don’t have love we are nothing.

John 15 : 16 God says — you didn’t chose me, I chose you, I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the father will give you whatever you ask for using my name this is my command: Love each other .

When Jesus was on the earth for 33 years of His life he showed us example of how to love. In my childhood, I always use to ask this question if God loves us so much why do we suffer, have trials, and temptations? later as I grew, understood that every temptation is one chance to show how much we love God.

In my life, I have gone through a lot of good and bad times. I really thank God for bad times because it changed my perspective towards life, it changed me from a stubborn, short-tempered angry person to who I am now.

I learnt that there are 3 reasons why we suffer :

  1. True disciples are made in times of trial because the fullness of god’s power is seen in our weakness.
  2. True worship is expressed in time of trial ( phil 4: 6- 7)
  3. True perspective is gained in times of trial.

You know best when God is only left with us.

Once I read an article: once a man confessed to his pastor “my life is really in bad shape” How bad? the pastor inquired. Burying his head in his hands the man moaned, “I tell you how bad all — all I have got left is God” The pastors face lit up. “ I Am happy to assure you that a person with nothing left but God has more than enough for the great victory.

Rom 8: 28 says And we know that God causes everything to work together for good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.No matter what circumstances or situation we face in life we can be happy because it is our thinking that makes us unhappy. As Someone said anyone can be happy anywhere if we just make a decision to be happy

Even after becoming Christian, I did many wrong things but even in those times, God was with me to help me come out of those things.

One of my Sunday school teachers use to say: Once we become His children even if we disobey we are still called the disobedient children of God. Our Identity does not change. In this world no one is perfect but we can excel in all things if God is with us and strive to reflect His character in us.

He makes the impossible possible every day we need to reflect and thank God for things both good and bad.

God has already shown us His love and also How to love others. Today He is asking us How much do you love me? How much of His love are we testifying to others ( especially those who hate us, wrong us) knowing that God loves us comes by Faith, feeling His love for us comes by relationship.
